Dermot O’Leary makes cheeky dig at Rebekah Vardy’s legal row with Coleen Rooney

Dermot O'Leary has risked the wrath of ITV bosses after taking a jab at Dancing On Ice 2021 Rebekah Vardy live on This Morning.

The former X Factor judge was co-hosting the show with Alison Hammond on Friday when he chatted via video link to Dancing on Ice contestant Rufus Hound and his skating partner Robin Johnstone.

Robin is married to fellow professional ice skater Andy Buchanan who is currently paired with Rebekah.

Last week Andy suffered a horrific injury after slicing open his face with an ice skating blade.

Joking about the incident, Dermot asked Robin what she thought when she saw the large wound.

He playfully teased: "Did he just point to his face and go, 'It was… Rebekah Vardy'?"

The comment was in reference to Coleen's now infamous expose of Vardy in which she accused the WAG's account of leaking information to the press.

She signed off a long Instagram post: "It was… Rebekah Vardy's account."

Trying to hide her amusement, Robin smirked before muttering: "Very good."

Brushing off the jibe, she added: "Actually he is training up north so I don't see him."

Dancing on Ice bosses were recently forced into introducing new Covid measures to ensure the safety of the stars after the country was placed into a new lockdown.

Judges Ashley Banjo, John Barrowman, Christopher Dean and Jayne Torvill, will now be separated on the panel by Perspex screens – much like on fellow ITV series The Masked Singer.

The show's planned live audience has also been axed to ensure social distancing can be maintained.

ITV said: "We have stringent protocols in place to ensure the health and safety of all our contributors and staff which are routinely monitored and updated to reflect the current guidelines."

Dancing on Ice launches Sunday at 6pm on ITV. This Morning airs weekdays at 10am on ITV.
