Ralf Little who plays DI Neville Parker joined the cast of Death in Paradise just a few weeks ago when he was called in to replace DI Jack Mooney (Ardal O’Hanlon), but DI Neville didn’t take to the island as easily as he thought he might. He was told he wasn’t allowed to leave the island but last week he was given the all-clear worrying fans he would be leaving the show for good.
Since DI Jack Mooney left, DI Neville has failed to get his head around how the island of Saint Marie works.
He is just a couple of weeks into his new role on the island but he has already had his hands full.
DI Neville was told his boss wanted him to see through the case leaving the newcomer with no choice but to stay put.
In last week’s finale, following weeks of complaining, the lead detective was given the all-clear to go home.

Joining his team at a party to celebrate Officer JP Hooper’s (Tobi Bakare) achievement in becoming a Sergeant, Neville asked if he could stay.
Last week, viewers saw Neville explain to the team: “I’m fed up of living life the way I have to, instead of the way I want to.
“What I’m saying is I’d love to be your DI permanently if you’ll have me.”
Ralf has now revealed what he has been doing to prepare for future series as DI Neville.
Ralf told Digital Spy: “I want to get my French in order, obviously [Neville] speaks English but it would be nice to speak French on the island.
“So I have to work on my French.”
When asked if he had already started filming for series 10, Ralf explained to MetroUK: “I’ve got roughly four months.”
The actor doesn’t just want to learn French though, he has also revealed that he is worried about any shower scenes the writers might want him to film.

He said: “There may be a scene that they write where it’s like, ‘Oh Neville’s having a shower’, and then he sees Harry and he runs out of the shower.
“What I want to happen on the day of shooting, when they go, ‘Okay, can you…?’ I’ll just take my T-shirt off and they’ll go, ‘Wait a second. Why are you ripped?’
“Neville is not meant to be ripped but I’m going to give them no choice.
“I’ve never bothered to be motivated before so I’m going to be like, ‘Right, just in case’.”

Ralf spoke to Express.co.uk before he started the BBC show, and when asked if he saw Death in Paradise continuing he said: “I certainly hope so unless I kill it off!
“If I’m terrible. I could be for Death in Paradise was George Clooney was for Batman.
“You’d need Christian Bale to come into Death in Paradise and resurrect it!
“Its appeal is hard to quantify. People talk a lot about the escapism of it, which is definitely a thing because of the time of year and it’s just beautiful, gorgeous.”
Death in Paradise continues on BBC One tonight at 9pm.
