Corrie actor Maximus Evans leaves his killer alter ego Corey Brent at work.
The 20-year-old said: “I like to have separation.
“Like every other job, at the end of the day you want to go to the pub and have a pint. It is those moments with friends that allow me to switch off.”
Super Soap Week kicked off with high-stakes scenes on Monday night with Abi Franklin threatening villain Corey with a gun while avenging the murder of her son Seb.
Corey and Abi are trapped together in an underground sewer after the ground gave way below them thanks to a sinkhole.
Speaking to Digital Spy, Maximus explained how fans react to him online and when they see him out and about.
He said: "I tend not to look at social media after the big episodes as it can go either way.
"I think the majority are obviously quite annoyed that Corey has got away with it – at this point anyway – but there's that acknowledgement that it was the right call.
"When I'm out and about on the streets of Manchester, everybody only has nice things to say.
"No-one is saying anything horrible. I was expecting that I'd get a bit of bother, but it's not happened and I don't think it will."
Maximus also explained how he gets into character before filming the intense scenes.
He added: "Before a take, I'm getting myself in that headspace of the marks I'm hitting and my motivation and my objective for the scene.
"Beforehand, I'm not some method actor who sits in his dressing room in sombre silence.
"I like to really be involved in the process with everyone. You can't do that without having a bit of fun."
The actor described the latest stunt drama as "unexpected, shocking and brutal."
Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 7:30pm and 8:30pm on ITV.
