Corrie newcomer Bec star supported by Paddy Beaver as she lands ITV soap role

Coronation Street star Luana Santos has been supported by her co-star Paddy Beaver after landing the role of Bec.

The actress recently made her debut as Max Turner's love interest and made the exciting announcement on Instagram that she would be joining the cast of the long-running ITV soap.

Beaming for a snap on the Corrie set, Luana gushed in the caption: "I’m so excited to announce that I am officially apart of the @coronationstreet cast!!

She added: "Thank you to everyone on the team for the friendliest welcome" before thanking her theatre school and management for "making this possible".

Paddy, 20, who has portrayed Max since 2021 after taking over the role from Harry McDermott, wasted no time praising his co-star as he took to the comments to leave a sweet message.

"So so chuffed for you Luana," he penned under the snaps.

Luana is a first year acting student at The Pendleton School of Theatre and the role of Bec is her first ever acting job.

The rising star has joined plenty of other recognisable faces who went from Pendleton to the Cobbles, including Nina Lucas star Mollie Gallagher, Daryan Zahawi actor Twana Omer and Faye Brookes, who portrayed Kate Connor for four years until 2019.

Luana added: "I’m so grateful to have been given this opportunity that was gifted to me through Pendleton who have helped me grow my confidence and my acting skills!"

During Friday's instalment (June 23) of the ITV soap, Shona assures Max that if he’s truthful with Bec about his past, she’ll realise he’s a changed person and appreciate his honesty.

Buoyed by her words Max goes to meet Bec.

But when Alya gets in first, Bec confronts a mortified Max, asking him when he was planning to tell her that he’s a terrorist.

Coronation Street airs Monday, Wednesday and Friday on ITV1 and ITVX at 8pm
