Corrie fans work out money behind Abis lawyer after disgusting custody battle twist

Coronation Street fans think they have figured out who paid Abi Franklin's layer Elliot's fees on Wednesday's episode during her bitter custody battle with Imran Habeeb over their son Alfie.

During the latest instalment, Abi confessed to Roy Cropper that she would need "several grand" to retain her former lawyer Elliot's services and that she needed to prove to everyone that she's not a "train wreck".

Kelly Neelan, who was previously wrongly accused of killing Abi's other son Seb Franklin, overheard the conversation as she offered her support and well-wishes.

Abi then told Kelly what had been happening and the games that Imran had been playing, even including having her followed to a rehab meeting.

Kelly was left feeling even more guilty as Abi explained that the accusations started after she took her bottle of morphine off her and Imran wrongly accused her of using again.

The troubled teen said: "So this is all my fault?" as Abi insisted that it wasn't.

Later in the episode, Abi was approached by her former lawyer Elliot as he declared: "To let you know that you can cancel your other lawyer because as of this morning… I am representing you again!"

Abi was left stunned as she pointed out: "I don't think so, I haven't got the money!" to which Elliot replied: 'Somebody else has taken care of it."

Asking who had paid her legal fees, Elliot insisted: "I was given special instructions not to say!" with Abi's estranged husband Kevin Webster replying: "Don't look at me!"

Soap watchers think that Kelly has paid for Abi's fees out of guilt of what happened to her late son Seb and the fact it was her bottle of morphine that has caused the drama.

Viewers will recall that Kelly recently inherited a lot of money from her late father Rick Neelan and fans think she has used some of this cash to help Abi.

Taking to Twitter, one person said: "I reckon Kelly's paid for the lawyer with her Dads money !! #Corrie."

A different account put: "That's got to be Kelly #Corrie."

Another follower wrote: "I think Kelly helped Abi by giving her some of Rick’s money or it was Toyah. #Corrie #CoronationStreet @itvcorrie."

While a different viewer added: "Bet Kelly is paying for the lawyer #corrie."

Later in the episode, soap fans were left "disgusted" as Imran lied about Abi to win custody of their son Alfie.

During the episode, Imran continued to get Ben to spy on Abi, who he is convinced is back on drugs despite her insisting she is clean, as he witnessed her exchanging money with Dean.

After relaying the information to Imran, Ben offered to lie and pretend that he witnessed the duo exchanging drugs with Imran agreeing to the plan.

Later during the custody battle, Ben's fake claim was used as a witness statement as the court ruled that Imran would have sole custody of Alfie and Abi only visitation rights.

And to make matters even more heartbreaking for Abi, the court case was on the anniversary of her other son Seb's death.
