Coronation Street's Gary Windass questioned by police over the factory collapse after ex Sarah realises he is to blame
GARY Windass was questioned by police over the factory collapse during tonight's Coronation Street.
The cops came calling after his ex, Sarah Platt, realised he is to blame for the carnage that killed Rana Nazir.
Gary – who’s played by Mikey North in the BBC soap – finds net closing in on him when Sarah starts asking him questions about the voicemail he left for her while she was away with her family.
When Gary’s answers are vague, Sarah’s suspicious that he had something to do with the factory roof collapse are piqued.
Later, Rick Neelan’s associate Sharon manages to track Gary down and she’s not convinced when he tells her that Rick has run off abroad and gone into hiding.
Sarah’s new boyfriend, Adam Barlow, then reveals that he told Imran about Sarah’s suspicions.
Then Imran, Sarah, Adam and Sharon all watch on as the police arrive and haul Gary in for questioning.
Gary is absolutely terrified but tries to keep his cool as the cops grill him about the factory roof and about his involvement with Rick, who has now been reported as a missing person by his daughter.
And when Gary later discovers it was Sarah who reported him to the police, he is absolutely broken.
At the end of the week, despite protesting his innocence to little sister Faye, Gary makes a surprising decision.
In the Rovers, he's shocked when a furious Peter Barlow lunges at him and accuses him of ruining both Carla and Kate Connor’s lives.
Riddled with guilt, he heads over to the solicitors’ office where legal eagle Imran works. He then tells Imran that he was responsible for Rana’s death.
On Monday, prime suspect Nick Tilsley found a photo that proved he was nowhere near Underworld at the time of the collapse.
With Nick’s alibi checking out and Carla making some comments about Gary’s odd behaviour, Sarah worked out that the tragedy was something to do with her ex-fiancé.
