Scott Emberton (played by Tom Roberts) blackmailed Johnny Connor (Richard Hawley) into taking part in one last robbery in Coronation Street but the landlord’s conscience got the better of him when he discovered the criminal mastermind was carrying a gun. Although Scott carried out the plan alone, will he be driven to desperate measures to make sure Johnny pays for the crime too?
When Scott first arrived in Weatherfield, Johnny fled the cobbles as he feared his criminal past would be exposed.
Speaking to Express.co.uk and other press, actor Richard spoke out on Johnny keeping his relationship with Scott secret.
Ricard said: “He hasn’t felt very good about it, he hasn’t even done it very well.
“I mean the first thing is they ran off to France. He came up with quite on the hoof, flimsy excuses as to why he wanted to stay longer in France.

“And actually the whole time he was just hiding away from his friend Scott and the stories from the past.”
“So he’s had a lot of pressure through this relationship with Scott,” Richard explained.
“Scott has been dangling blackmail in front of him in order to persuade him to do this new crime, one last crime with him.
“Johnny of course [didn’t] want to do it. He’s really reinvented himself from the days when he used Scott a long, long time ago.”
“This is a dark secret, a real haunting ghost from the past stuff and he doesn’t want Jenny to know about it,” he continued.
“And also the implications of this are very dangerous for Johnny.
“It was dangerous [for him] to do [the robbery] and then it was dangerous not to do it.”
“He’s stuck between a rock and a hard place,” Richard added.

Scott will do anything to make sure he’s not the only going to prison for the bistro robbery.
The criminal resents Johnny for starting a new life and won’t let him forget his past.
Will Scott fabricate evidence to implicate Johnny and shift all of the blame away from himself?
Elsewhere, Johnny and Jenny’s relationship hangs in the balance after the landlord confessed to the truth of his relationship with Scott.
Jenny has had to put up with a lot during her marriage with Johnny and this could be the final straw.
The landlady was stunned when her husband opened up about his involvement in a robbery years earlier.
However, after welcoming Scott into their home, Jenny may decide she can’t forgive Johnny this time.
Coronation Street airs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays on ITV at 7.30pm.
