Coronation Street spoilers: Kate Connor star films final scenes this week before exit

Coronation Street is having a shakeup this year with new residents moving in and several leaving for greener pastures.

Following the arrival of the Bailey family, the Connor family are going to be saying goodbye to Kate (played by Faye Brookes).

Having been on the cobbles since 2015, the barmaid was involved in one of this year’s biggest storylines.

Kate found love with Rana Habeeb (Bhavna Limbachia) and in a romantic scene the pair were seen proposing to each other.

With a big white wedding initially on the cards, the pair spent New Year separated before getting back together and rushing down the aisle, until they were forced apart by the Underworld factory roof collapse.

With a broken heart, Kate has struggled to come to terms with losing her soulmate.

And it seems a fresh start is just what she needs to cope with the biggest change in her life.

Back in April, the actress who plays Kate took to Twitter to post an exit announcement.

It said: “Thanks to everyone for your amazing support, but after four fabulous years in Weatherfield, it’s time for me to explore new opportunities.

“I’ve loved playing Kate Connor, but she needs a break for a little while and so with a song in my heart I’m off to pastures new,” Faye wrote.

This Friday, Faye will step onto the cobbles for the last time and film her final scenes.

Kate will be appearing on television screens right through the summer until the autumn.

How she leaves however is another matter, but fans hope the character is not going to be killed off.

Elsewhere in Weatherfield, Kevin Webster (Michael Le Vell) could be about to suffer a terrible loss.

Daughter Sophie Webster (Brooke Vincent) recently reignited her relationship with Paula Martin (Stirling Gallagher).

In recent scenes, the lawyer’s backstory has started to be explored, but next week, Kevin and Sophie will make an unsettling discovery about her past.

Paula is going to tell Sophie how her home has been burgled, thus being invited into the Websters’ house to stay for a few nights.

While the lawyer assures Kevin she is looking for another place to live, Jack is left startled when an intruder bursts through the back door.

But who is the stranger and what does he want with Paula?

Coronation Street returns Friday at 7.30pm on ITV.
