Christine Lampard, 42, revealed she was scared to leave the house because of Covid-19 and not knowing the consequences of catching the virus whilst being pregnant. Whilst filling in for Lorraine, the wife of the former footballer Frank Lampard spoke passionately on the subject with regular health expert Dr Amir Khan.
Dr Amir started: “Morning Christine it is lovely to have you back and first of all can I say congratulations on the birth of baby Freddie!
“Absolutely gorgeous, I’ve seen the photos.”
Beaming with joy Christine thanked the doctor: “Daddy is currently in charge, so goodness knows what the house is like.”
After a brief conversation about the new government scheme ‘Kebabs for Jabs’ which is set to incentivise young adults to get their jab, the conversation turned to pregnancy in the pandemic.
Dr Amir stated: “Any information we can get about the safety of these vaccines in pregnancy is important and will go on to save lives in the future too.”
Christine agreed: “It wasn’t being offered when I was pregnant and funnily enough, I ended up just staying in the house an awful lot of the time because I was so scared of being out and about and catching it and not knowing what the consequences were.
“It is an interesting trial for all those pregnant women who are sort of scared of what the future is going to hold for the next nine months.”
Christine announced she and Frank were expecting baby number two at the beginning of the year.
Taking to Instagram she wrote: “A new year and a new baby on the way for the Lampard’s!
“It’s been a strange and worrying time to be pregnant but we’re hoping and praying that’s cuddles from friends and family are not too far off.
“Sending all my love to everyone going through a pregnancy during this crazy time.”
The couple married in 2015 and three years later welcomed their first daughter Patricia Charlotte, now two, who was named after Frank’s mother who died in 2008.

Christine shared a picture of the couple happily gazing at their newborn with the caption: “Let us introduce you to our little girl. Patricia Charlotte Lampard! We’re so in love”
Speaking previously on her second pregnancy, she explained she and Frank didn’t care whether it was a boy or a girl and were happy to find out on the day.
Frank also has two daughters with former partner Elen Riva, Luna, 11 and Isla, 9.
The presenter has previously said having another baby was not something she had thought about and ruled out any more children adding: “Freddie was a beautiful surprise.”
“To be honest, I think I’m done with surprises. I think we’re very lucky to have the two of them. We’re very content, we really are,” she explained to The Mirror.
Christine also previously admitted she was struggling with “baby brain” and drinking “copious amounts” of coffee to try and subside any side effects from her second pregnancy.
She posted a radiant selfie on Instagram with the caption: “Happy Monday! Thanks for your company today on @lorraine doing my best to fill @lorrainekellysmith shoes for the next few weeks.
“The baby brain is still very present but copious amounts of coffee helped. Jumpsuit from @lkbennettlondon.”
Lorraine airs weekdays on ITV at 9am.
