Bruno Tonioli and Craig Revel Horwood joined Alex Reid and Jermaine Jenas on The One Show today to discuss their new ITV show Craig and Bruno’s Great British Road Trips. The BBC recently confirmed Bruno will be missing from this year’s Strictly Come Dancing and Anton Du Beke will take his place. Bruno revealed to Alex and Jermaine that he was “disappointed” at the news and will miss being a part of the show.

Alex began: “We’ve got to talk about dancing, lots of people will be so disappointed that you’re not on Strictly this year.”

“I’m disappointed,” Bruno remarked and Alex asked: “What will you miss about it then?”

“Him,” he replied as he pointed at co-star Craig. “It’s such a great show to perform in.

“The public, the kids, the dancing. Every time I do it and I’m there it surprises me.”

“It’s so good,” he continued. “It’s something I really enjoy doing.”

“Unfortunately to do with all these travel restrictions Covid they just decided that logistically it’s impossible.

“The BBC need to proceed but I love the show who knows what will happen in the future.

“It’s going to be fantastic regardless,” the Dancing with the Stars judge added.

“Craig, both of you have been a part of the show for so long, is it going to be strange not having your mate here for the year?” Jermaine asked.

“I have to say I do love Bruno’s energy, I will miss that and having a real natter with him at the end [of the show],” Craig answered.

“We do actually fight quite a lot,” he remarked and Bruno added: “We do [fight] but once the show is over, it’s over.

“It’s like commentary with a partner over football, the logistics, the techniques, you do it but then it’s over and you go for a drink together.”

“We don’t carry it,” Bruno explained. “Sometimes we say to each other, ‘Did you say that?’”

“But Anton is going to be great, he’s fabulous,” Craig commented.

“Yes, he is,” the Welsh presenter agreed. “He’s much loved.”

Last month, Strictly bosses confirmed Anton would step into Bruno’s role on the judging panel.

Last year, Bruno was unable to join his fellow judges in the studio due to commitments to US show Dancing with the Stars.

The Italian judge gave his verdict on the week’s dances in a live video link during Sunday’s results show.

Meanwhile, Anton took on the role of judge for two weeks when Motsi Mabuse was forced to self-isolate.

Strictly Come Dancing returns to BBC One later this year. The One Show airs on weekdays on BBC One at 7pm.
