Big Bang Theory plot hole: Huge error in Sheldon and Amy’s relationship agreement revealed

The Big Bang Theory’s Sheldon Cooper (played by Jim Parsons) saw his world changed for the better when met Amy Farrah Fowler (Mayim Bialik) on a blind date way back in season three. The two went on to have one of the sweetest, most frustrating and hilarious romance on TV, cementing them as fan-favourites among CBS and Channel 4 viewers along the way.

However, one eagle-eyed fan has pointed out a rather clear plot hole with the pair’s relationship.

The Big Bang fan took issue with the ‘relationship agreement’ Sheldon holds in such regard.

Over the course of their relationship on the show, the weighty document Sheldon would often produce in order to get his way was the source of plenty of laughs.

It was also the source of much frustration for Amy who would find herself trumped by a clause implemented by her boyfriend.

But could the entire agreement be void thanks to huge blunder committed by Sheldon?

One Big Bang Theory fan has suggested so by pointing out a plot hole with the document.

The error occurred in the season five episode titled The Flaming Spittoon Acquisition (episode 10).

Taking to online forum moviemistakes, the viewer explained: “Sheldon and Amy have agreed to call each other ‘boyfriend’ and ‘girlfriend.’

“Sheldon suggests she should peruse the new relationship agreement while he sets up his notary stamp.

“As an agreement, both parties would sign.

“(However), as a Notary, Sheldon would know that he could not notarize his own signature.”

Considering Sheldon’s high level of intelligence and eidetic memory, it’s highly unlikely he wouldn’t be aware of a notary’s true powers.

This isn’t the first time Sheldon’s knowledge or eidetic memory has left fans scratching their heads.

One fan rewatching the series again spotted a key scene between him and Penny (Kaley Cuoco) which threw everything into doubt.

In it, Sheldon is advising Penny on how to get her ‘Penny Blossom’ business off the ground.

In doing so, he tells Penny he has a working knowledge of “everything in the universe.”

However, Penny threw him a curveball to which he had no retort.

Penny asked Sheldon who Radiohead was and the physicist was unable to answer.

But surely with his eidetic memory and the global success Radiohead had achieved over the years, he would’ve been exposed to their music or news stories about them over the years.

The Big Bang Theory is available to stream on Netflix UK now.
