All Creatures Great and Small season two has now reached its halfway point and fans of the Channel 5 drama have been enjoying watching the cast back in action. Nicholas Ralph continues to lead the cast as veterinary surgeon James Herriot but there have also been some guest appearances from some other famous actors throughout the most recent run of episodes. Here is a full list of those who are featuring in episode four of the TV show, airing on Thursday, October 7, 2021.

Who is in the cast of All Creatures Great and Small season 2 episode 4?

The regular cast will be back for the episode, including James (played by Nicholas Ralph), Mrs Hall (Anna Madeley) and Siegfried Farnon (Samuel West).

They will be involved with a story centred around Tristan Farnon (Callum Woodhouse) as it’s his birthday and he is given more responsibilities as a vet.

Helen Alderson (Rachel Shenton) also has to face some home truths from her love interest, James, under Mrs Hall’s orders.

Mrs Pumphrey (Patricia Hodge) will be back on hand alongside the likes of Maggie (Mollie Winnard), Hugh Hulton (Matthew Lewis).

Some of the supporting cast have been seen in the show before but some viewers might be scratching their heads as to where they’ve seen them before.

Richard Alderson – Tony Pitts

Actor of the stage and screen, Tony is best known for his roles in blockbusters such as War Horse and Star Wars: Rogue One.

In the show, he plays Richard who is the father of Helen and Jenny Anderson (Imogen Clawson) as well as a farmer who oversees proceedings on his land.

James Herriot Sr – Drew Cain

Drew plays the father of protagonist James and only wants the best for his son and the bright future which lies on the horizon.

The actor has made appearances in several shows over the years including The Nest on BBC and he has starred in the film Hurricane: Mission of Honour.

Mrs Watkins – June Watson

One of the most beloved characters of the show, Mrs Watkins is a blind resident of the village of Darrowby who has been seen asking for Tristan’s help in the past.

She is played by June, who has starred in multiple television shows including Chernobyl and Call The Midwife.

The actresses appearances on the big screen include roles in blockbusters such as The Death of Stalin and The Lady In The Van.

Mr Dobson – Jon Furlong

As a farmer and owner of a herd of cows, Mr Dobson is linked to the Alderson family as he often pays for the services of their bull.

The actor who plays him, Jon, has made appearances in the Netflix drama The Last Kingdom, in which he plays Brother Godwin.

Bert and Anne Chapman – Dave Hill and Cleo Sylvestre

The elderly couple who were first introduced in last year’s Christmas special make an appearance in the fourth episode of season two.

They live in a remote cottage in the Yorkshire Dales but James continues to visit them and their border collie.

Bert is played by actor Dave, who has had roles in shows such as EastEnders, Doctor Who and he has featured in films including The Full Monty.

Cleo was the first Black woman to play a leading role in the National Theatre and she plays Bert’s wife Anne in the show.

Her previous roles include starring in shows such as Grange Hill and on the big screen in Paddington and Kidulthood.

Gerald Hammond – Will Thorp

Local resident Gerald is played by the star of the small screen, Will, who has made appearances in several well-known programmes.

These include Doctor Who as a guest character and as Paul Joyner in 48 episodes of Casualty from 2004 to 2005.

He has also held roles in Law and Order: UK, Scott and Bailey, Coronation Street and Shakespeare and Hathaway.

Dave Kitson – James Burrows

Following on from his role as doctor Ali Neeson in Coronation Street, actor James makes an appearance in All Creatures Great and Small.

The former soap star plays Dave, who is a resident of the Yorkshire Dales and who is a dab hand when it comes to farming.

All Creatures Great and Small continues Thursday at 9pm on Channel 5.
