Alison Hammond considered second gastric band before dramatic weight loss
ALISON Hammond considered a second gastric band before her dramatic weight loss.
The telly star, 44, had her first band removed after her body rejected it but has previously confessed she'd try it again.
She said she tried using the device after watching former This Morning presenter Fern Britton lose weight after having the same procedure.
She said in 2014: "I was offered a gastric band around the time Fern was and tried it because I wanted to lose weight.
"I didn't have a trigger to say I was full up, which is why I had it. But my body started rejecting it. I began to grow scar tissue around it.
"The doctor said, 'Normally it takes 15 minutes to remove a gastric band but yours took three hours because of all the scar tissue.'"
And in 2016, Alison said she'd be willing to give it another go.
She said: "I don't want to have surgery but if it got to the point where I couldn't walk and I'd tried everything, I'd have to consider a gastric bypass. Obviously I don't want to get to that stage."
Hammond shocked fans last week when she showed off her new look online.
Her followers thought it was a picture of Beyonce and praised her new look, which she has clearly worked hard for if her Instagram profile is anything to go by.
She was unveiled as a Weight Watchers ambassador back in April when she came in at 20stone on the scales.
Speaking about joining the club, she said: "My WW journey is focused on getting healthier for myself.
"I feel rubbish when I don’t eat properly or exercise and WW helps me with what I eat and do.
"I want my journey to empower others to think about making changes to their lifestyle to become the best version of themselves."
She said that juggling life as a single mum with her busy career had meant she didn't have much time to focus on herself.
But because much of WW is online these days – with the app, the 24-hour support, the forums – Alison said it was "the only programme that works for me".
Alison previously confessed that her 20 stone weight left her "embarrassed".
She told Planet Radio in 2016: "'When you get really big like me, you don't see any light at the end of the tunnel.'
"I'd love to weigh 12 stone, that's the ideal weight for my height.
"I'm 5ft 9in, but if I was 15 stone and around a size 14 to 16 I'd be over the moon."
