YouTube star LadBaby lands Mariah Carey’s Walkers’ crisps Christmas advert gig

Walkers' crisps have announced that YouTube star Ladbaby is now officially their Christmas ambassador instead of Mariah Carey.

After two successive festive No1s he’s stolen Mariah’s job as the star of the new Walkers crisps festive ad campaign, and believes that makes him the ultimate Christmas pop star.

Ladbaby, real name Mark Hoyle, said: "Look, how many Christmas No1s has Mariah Carey got?

"I don’t think she has any here in the UK so I am not saying I am better than Mariah, well…I can’t sing better but I certainly have more No1s than Mariah!.

"And I actually eat the crisps. So I’ll take Mr Christmas."

Mark’s wife and fellow YouTube star Rox agreed: "I will gladly be the new Mrs Christmas, I live for it!"

Ladbaby’s Walkers advert premieres today and Mark personally thanked Daily Star after we petitioned for him to follow in Mariah’s crisps-steps last year.

He laughed: "This is down to you.

"It’s true, it was very funny, I said to you last year that Mariah Carey wasn’t even eating crisps properly and then in January Walkers got in touch and said they had read your article and asked me if I wanted the gig!"

Another dream of Mark’s came true while making the advert – he met East 17 star Tony Mortimer and recreated the turntable scene from their Stay Another Day music video.

The YouTuber gushed: "I said to him, ‘oh I bet you get wheeled out every Christmas to stand on something that spins’ and he said that it was the first time he had been on a revolving floor since the E17 video so that was even more amazing!"

The couple have also released special edition Sausage Roll flavour crisps, with money from each packet being donated to The Trussell Trust – the same charity that benefited from their two Christmas hits – We Built This City and I Love Sausage Rolls.

And don’t be surprised if a third Christmas Ladbaby tune rolls out this year, Rox teased: "If we can do it justice then we will try and that is what we always say."

Earlier this year LadBaby was tipped as the bookies' favourite to appear in the new series of I'm a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!

But sadly he is not in the line-up for this year.
