Elton John was diagnosed with walking pneumonia only a few hours before he was scheduled to appear at the Mount Smart Stadium in Auckland, New Zealand.

The 72-year-old attempt to do the show, but clearly this did not work for him, and he was forced to walk off stage.

Many fans were concerned whether he was continue to perform, given he has two more shows in Auckland to play throughout the week.

However, fans have been a little concerned that this means the tour is “too much” for him.

One fan said: “Is the farewell tour becoming too much for Elton John?

“He’s been diagnosed with pneumonia and was unable to complete concert tonight in Auckland. Tomorrow across Australia & NZ…”

Another more angry fan said: “P***ed off @eltonofficial your age obviously means something soooo you should not have embarked on a world tour giving us punters who have travelled miles to see you half a show”

However, those fans need not be frustrated or worried, as it turns out the tour will continue for the rest of the time.

Chugg Entertainment, who are promoting the Farewell tour, said: “Elton John was disappointed and deeply upset at having to end his Auckland concert early last night,” they said.

“At this stage, all remaining shows will go ahead as planned.”

But many fans will be wondering what walking pneumonia even is, and whether Sir Elton is in more danger than we think.

However, the term is used to describe a milder case of the illness pneumonia, and symptoms include fever, chest pain and a cough, and in Sir Elton’s case, losing his voice.

It is believed, according to the American Lung Association, that fans should be able to continue they day to day activities despite the illness, however that was clearly not the case for Sir Elton.
