There is nothing better than crisp white bedsheets.

It’s that fresh bed feeling which makes you want to snuggle up under the duvet and hibernate for as long as you possible can, floating on a cotton Cloud Nine.

However, what can quickly kill the covetable clean look is when those sheets begin to yellow, or sweat stains and discolouration start to bed down in your lovely nesting spot.

However a woman has taken to social media platform TiKTok to share her bizarre, yet very eco-friendly solution to keeping your linen dazzlingly white, and it only involves a lemon!

In a simple video outlining the process the woman, whose name is Ali Graham, known online as Aligrams3, first shared a clip of her bedsheets on her large double bed.

She captioned it “tip for white sheets” alongside a lemon emoji.

Next she threw the bedsheets into the wash, and then began squeezing lemons into the drum of the washing machine, on top of the sheets.

She wrote: “I always squeeze lemon directly onto my sheets. This helps keep them a nice bright white”.

Presumably she also adds washing powder too. Although you may be sceptical about whether this will work, it is in fact a much tried and tested method.

WikiHow also recommends it as a way for keeping sheets white, instructing readers to “Squeeze 1 lemon over the bin for an all-natural whitener.

"Carefully cut a lemon in half horizontally, and hand-squeeze the juice into your bin from both halves.

"Get as much juice out of the lemon as you can, and then throw away the peels."

They then explain that the acidic lemon juice “naturally helps lift and remove stubborn stains”.

However this isn't the only fruit-based cleaning hack that Ali has shared with followers.

She also recently explained how to use a grapefruit to clean your bath tub.

In another video she instructed viewers to “grab some grapefruit & put sugar on the flesh side”.

She then showcased the piece of fruit after it has been dusted in sugar granules, no doubt to act as an exfoliant for bathroom grime.

Ali then began rubbing the bathtub with the fruit, instructing viewers to “start scrubbing” because “the acidity helps removes soap scum”.

And voila! It worked like a charm.
