Joe Wicks got the nation moving last year with his online P.E. classes that brought joy to millions. Now, faced with another lockdown, fans are downloading his new The Body Coach app, which reportedly raked in more than £9million in its first week alone.

But if you are getting a touch tired of Joe Wicks, or just want a bit of a change, there are plenty of other fitness gurus and swanky studios offering up virtual exercises and fitness programmes that you can do from the comfort of your living room. 

Whether you are an experienced yogi, novice ballet dancer, or a new mother who wants to work out while the little one naps, there are YouTube classes, Instagram videos and mobile phone apps that will help you get the blood flowing. 

Some are based in Britain, like the Royal Academy of Dance’s Silver Swans programme, while others allow you to access the very best fitness talent from around the world, like American trainer to the stars Tracy Anderson.

YOGI WITH 9 MILLION SUBSCRIBERS 

Lockdown sensation: Adriene’s YouTube yoga channel has an amazing 9million subscribers. Never tried it before? Don’t worry. Adriene’s ‘Yoga for Complete Beginners’ is just 20 minutes long and is her most popular video with a staggering 35million views

Adriene has a legion of devoted followers, nine million on YouTube at the last count. She started in 2012 and has become the go-to lockdown yoga guru — with thousands taking to social media to say she changed there lives.

It’s easy to see why. Whatever you want to achieve (weight loss, upper body strength) or remedy (stress, back pain, PMS) there’s a yoga session for you.

MUM WORKOUTS WITH BINKY 

Her own best advert: Mother-of-one Binky, who is now expecting her second child, has launched her own fitness app MamaBeing Fit for pregnant women and new mothers

Her own best advert, Binky Felstead recently launched her own fitness and wellbeing app MamaBeing Fit which, as the name suggests, focuses on giving fitness, health and nutrition advice to mothers. 

The former Made In Chelsea star, 30, has crafted workouts that can be done by pregnant women and new mothers ‘while bubba naps’ – something she has plenty of experience in herself. 

There is the option of choosing single workouts or training plan, depending on what suits your needs.  

MR MOTIVATOR’S MOOD-BOOSTERS 

Blast from the past: Mr Motivator is back and brings his signature feel-good style to free, 12-minute long YouTube videos. An uplifting way to get the blood flowing

He’s back! Breakfast TV’s favourite fitness guru is now on YouTube and offers free, easy-to-follow exercises set to feel-good music to his 8,500 subscribers. 

The ‘daily dozen’ workouts are just 12 minutes long and feature a mixture of lunging, reaching and steps that are great for older fitness fans or anyone looking for a gentle re-introduction to exercise. 

LIVING ROOM WORKOUTS 

Get ready to sweat: Ideal for a quick burst of exercise that you can do in the living room, London-based boxing studio KOBOX is sharing workouts on its Instagram account

Ideal for a quick burst of exercise that you can do in the living room, London-based boxing studio KOBOX is sharing a new workout on its Instagram account every day this week to help you kickstart your fitness goals (and get over the news of another lockdown). 

Each mini workout has a clear goal – ‘cardio’, ‘upper body’ or ‘full body burn’ – and is accompanied by a video of one of the KOBOX trainers showing you exactly how to do each move so you know you’re doing it right at home. 

Fans can also sign up to the KOBOX online classes, which cost £7.50 each. 

BALLET FOR SILVER SWANS 

Never too old to start: Loved by the Duchess of Cornwall, the Royal Academy of Dance Silver Swans initiative has been developed specifically for older learners who want to dip a (pointed) toe in ballet. Pictured, an exercise from one of the free online lessons

There is plenty of variety available – from HIIT workouts to cardio and yoga – so there is something there no matter what your fitness style.  

And, unlike other ‘free’ apps, there is no pressure to upgrade or pay for a premium version. 

THE AUSSIE INSTA SENSATION

One of the world’s biggest fitness influencers, Kayla Itsines turned her wildly popular Instagram account (12.7million and counting) into a full-blown fitness empire. As of 2018, she and then boyfriend and business partner Tobi Pearce had an estimated fortune of $696million AUD (roughly £378million). 

Together they founded online fitness community Sweat, which offers HIIT, Strength, Barre and Yoga programmes. 

There are some exercises available for free on the Sweat Instagram page but the best bits are on the Sweat app, which costs £14.99 a month. 

THE PRICEY A-LIST FAVOURITE

From Adele, Madonna and Gwyneth Paltrow to Jennifer Lopez and Cameron Diaz, Tracy Anderson is the woman A-listers seek out to sculpt their bodies. Her famous Tracy Anderson Method has netted her a £30 million fortune. Membership to one of her gyms in LA or New York would set me back £9,000 a year.

A pioneer in online workouts, Tracy first started broadcasting classes remotely in 2014 and now offers the TA Online Studio which offers on-demand workouts. 

Like the in studio classes, Tracy’s online offerings are pricier than most and a monthly subscription starts at $90. 

FEEL THE BURN WITH BARRE

Who: Barrecore

Where: barrecore.com; £6 per live class 

Founded in 2011, Barrecore has centres across London, Cheshire and Bristol. Classes usually start from £28. The aim is to sculpt the body using small, precise movements (like a ballet dancer). Celebrity followers include Darcey Bussell, Rita Ora and Emma Stone.

The exercises might look difficult but they will have you ‘feeling the burn’ within a matter of minutes. 

Newcomers can have the first live online class free and two weeks free of on-demand classes. After that there are a variety of costing options, starting at £6 per online live streamed class.
