It takes Fergie several royal treatments to stay looking so young.
Sarah Ferguson, who will celebrate her 60th birthday next week, opened up to the Daily Mail about the various cosmetic procedures she’s tried, including Botox, non-invasive laser facelifts, stem cell therapy on her feet and more.
“I’ve had a lot of help to look like this at 60,” the ex-wife of Prince Andrew told the outlet. “I’ve started the laser treatment, but it’s not finished yet. The collagen needs to rebuild. I hope it will be done by my birthday.”
The Duchess of York turns to Dr. Gabriela Mercik for treatments before big events — including her daughter Princess Eugenie’s wedding last year — and said she aims for natural-looking results.
“I don’t like the frozen look,” she said. “I’m so animated and I like to be myself. I don’t like the thought of needles and am very glad if I look well and happy.”
She also added that she doesn’t want to pretend she is just naturally aging well. “I’m really happy to be open about what I’ve done,” she said.
While the duchess admitted to using Botox in the past, Fergie now prefers less invasive options like mesotherapy, which she started in 2013; the treatment involves injections of vitamins, minerals and amino acids which help boost collagen production.
“I need to repair the damage that was done on the beach when I was a child,” she said. “It’s why I had the mesotherapy, the vitamin cocktail to hydrate and boost the skin.”
She then had a facial thread lift, during which a mesh is inserted under the skin to lift and smooth facial wrinkles.
“It’s like garden trellising for sweet peas. You insert the threads under the skin with a fine needle and they hold everything up,” Fergie explained. “They also encourage collagen production. It takes a couple of months, then the sweet peas bloom.”
At first, she was nervous the procedure would be “painful,” but she discovered it “wasn’t bad.”
“My skin responded well,” the royal explained. “I think if you look at photos of me after I had it done, I look much better.”
Fergie also revealed that she got stem cell therapy on her feet so she could literally look younger from head to toe.
“I think my toes were ruined by all the riding I did when I was young. They shaved the bone here,” she said, gesturing to her big toe, “and implanted stem cells, 20 million of them taken from my midriff, into my feet to make new cartilage.”
Added the Duchess of York, “It takes about six months to heal but now I can walk in heels.”
