When it comes to The Royal Family, obviously we love them for just being who they are but the women are definitely superior (sorry boys) when it comes to their style choices.

Throughout history the public have always been obsessed with getting to see members of the family out and about.

Whether it’s attending special appearances or taking a trip down the aisle, we simply can’t get enough.

Whether you’re a fan of the royal ladies or not, you cannot deny that this is one of the most stylish families in the world (move over Kardashians).

Well, in a study carried out by online fashion brand PrettyLittleThing, it has been revealed who the biggest Royal style inspiration is and you might be surprised.

Taking the number one spot is none other than the icon that is Princess Diana.

Even 24 years after her tragic death, we are still loving the style of the lady that so rightly earned the title of ‘the peoples princess’ with 217500 searches for her outfits.

From her ultra glam looks such as her memorable blue velvet Victor Edelstein gown that she danced with John Travolta in, to her famous Christina Stambolian black revenge dress, she never failed to provide us with outfit envy.

We were slightly shocked at who won the top spot between rival in-laws Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle as Meghan took the lead with 145,400 searches for her style.

Throughout her time in the Royal Family we have seen Meghan sport sleek tailored looks and fabulous gowns such as her bold red Safiyaa cape dress.

Whereas now after moving to Los Angeles in March 2020 with husband Prince Harry, we are witnessing Meghan leave behind her royal dressing rules and opt for a more relaxed Californian style of dressing.

Coming in third place is none other than the gorgeous Kate Middleton who we love so much.

This is one woman who we want to always give a round of applause to whenever she steps out, which makes sense as to why she racked up 145,400 searches for her super stylish looks.

Not only does she always prove how easy it is to pull off sophisticated and elegant ensembles, but she is also responsible for setting some of the biggest trends, for example, stepping out in two pink outfits from high street brand Boden, the colour is on track to being one of the biggest colours of the season.

Coming in after Kate is none other than Princess Anne with 6,890 searches – we know, we were surprised too.

We don’t get to see the Princess Royal as much as we do other members of the Royal Family, but when we do, we can’t deny that this is one woman who definitely embraces some different styles.

Stepping out after the official two week mourning period of her father, Prince Philip’s death, Anne made a colourful statement in a very bold head-to-toe purple outfit.

This is one lady who isn’t afraid of taking some questionable risks with her style.

Taking fifth place with 3,790 searches is The Duchess of Cornwall, now we know she might not be everyone's favourite lady, especially if you’re #TeamDiana but you can’t deny that she knows how to rock some elegant ensembles.

As we go down the list we see the older members take the middle spots with the younger ladies such as Princess Beatrice and Sophie Wessex coming in seventh and eighth place.

One woman who would have been higher in our rankings is the most adorable and iconic member of the family, The Queen as she comes in ninth place.

As lockdown restrictions ease further we can’t wait to see members of The Royal Family step out more and naturally we’ll be on hand to keep track of their fabulous looks.
