Meghan Markle and Prince Harry Aren't Worried About the Royal Family's Reaction to 'Finding Freedom' Insider Says

After months of talk and speculation, the day has finally arrived. Carolyn Durand and Omid Scobie’s tell-all book, Finding Freedom about Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, and Prince Harry’s time in the British royal family has finally dropped, and it’s already an international bestseller.

Whispers about the book began to arise in the months following the Sussexes’ shocking Megxit announcement. It was clear that the duke and duchess had some lingering tensions with the royal family, and rumors swirled that they’d provided Durand and Scobie with some intimate details about their time in the royal fold.

Now, that the book is available, it recounts all of the details of the Sussexes romance, and what Meghan, in particular, endured as a senior working royal. However, despite all of the book’s stunning revelations that don’t necessarily paint the royals in a good light, Prince Harry and Meghan remain unbothered.

The British royal family is not happy about ‘Finding Freedom’

In the months following the Sussexes’ resignation from royal life, they fled to Canada, and tensions between Prince Harry and Prince William remained high. The royal brothers’ relationship had taken a turn in 2016 when the older prince cautioned his brother to slow down with Meghan. A source told The Sun,

The book could be the most damaging thing to the Royal Family since Prince Diana’s interview on Panorama with Martin Bashir. The concern is it will somehow paint [William] as an unfeeling baddie against kind and philanthropic Harry and Meghan. The aides are privately worried about it. Unsympathetic, unfeeling and unsupportive are the words being used but of course no one knows exactly what’s in it.

More than that, Queen Elizabeth II does not like drama and scandals. Following Prince Andrew’s royal ousting and Megxit, the royals can’t afford any more drama right now. “It’s going to open old wounds at a time when everyone wanted to move on,” a royal insider told Vanity Fair. “I think the person who will be most upset about it all is the Queen.”

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle did not contribute to ‘Finding Freedom’

Despite the revelatory nature of Finding Freedom, Prince Harry and Meghan have distanced themselves from the book. “The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were not interviewed and did not contribute to Finding Freedom,” the Sussexes’ spokesperson stated. “This book is based on the authors’ own experiences as members of the royal press corps and their own independent reporting.”

Still, royal experts and even Prince William are reportedly not buying this. An insider told US Weekly,

William thinks the book is their calculated way of controlling the narrative and that they took advantage of their entertainment contacts so they’d be painted in a favorable light.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry aren’t concerned about the royal family’s reaction to ‘Finding Freedom’

While everyone seems to be burying their heads into Finding Freedom, Prince Harry and Meghan reportedly haven’t given it a second thought. “Yes, Harry and Meghan are aware that [the book] is coming out but it’s a non-issue for them,” an insider explained to Hollywood Life. “They are in regular contact with Harry’s family and on good terms, and this book isn’t going to change that.”

In fact, it appears that the couple is only looking toward the future. The source continued,

Harry and Meghan are working on so many different initiatives and so many charities. They have a great team working with them, but the workload is still intense and it doesn’t leave a lot of time to worry about this book. They are focused on the future and what they can do to help out during this pivotal time in history.
