Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have enlisted the help of a Hollywood PR firm – whose clients have included Michael Jackson and Harvey Weinstein.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have engaged the help of Sunshine Sachs, said to be one of the best in the world at crisis management.
The move has caused some surprise among royal staff, it is claimed.
It is understood that the PR company will help support the royals with launch of a global project.
It comes as Harry and Meghan – whose new home cost taxpayers £2.4million to refurbish – have faced a series of uncomfortable headlines.
These include claims that Meghan has cut ties with dad Thomas, criticism over the pair's use of private jets, and a reported feud with William and Kate.
It is not thought however that the company will represent the pair in a personal capacity.
Nevertheless it has been dubbed "unorthodox" by insiders.
A source told The Sun : "Hiring a Hollywood firm to represent you for PR while a member of the Royal Family is unorthodox to say the least.
"Senior palace courtiers have been left bemused over the last few months that the couple have been ignoring advice from their own highly-professional team and will instead listen to outsiders in Hollywood."
