From one-pot dishes to pizzas slow cookers are handy kitchen gadgets — here are some great tips to make life easier

COOKING three meals a day becoming a bit of a chore?

Using your slow cooker more could be the key to making day-to-day lockdown life easier.

From one-pot dishes to pizzas, these appliances are handy kitchen must-haves that will save you time and money.

BAKE IT: Lockdown has meant lots of baking — everyone tried a sourdough starter, right?

But a slow cooker makes it even simpler to whip up a tasty loaf.

Flour, salt, dried yeast and butter to grease are all you need.

And by using the same ingredients every time, you’ll save an extra £1 on the sliced stuff.

Plus it will be warm, fresh and make your home smell lovely.

SLICE AS NICE: Miss going out for pizza?

If takeaways and shop-bought slices have become a bit of a bore, why not try a DIY slow cooker pizza?

Use the same ingredients you would for the loaf mentioned earlier, but first line the bottom of your pot with some foil before pressing your fresh dough base on to the bottom.

Then while cooking, add tomato sauce and your toppings.

Why not make individual ones for the family or get the kids involved too?

SPUDDY GOOD: Jacket potatoes are great for cheap and healthy lunches, so make them simpler using the slow cooker.

All you have to do is prick the potatoes and rub with a little olive oil, before seasoning and wrapping in foil.

Then pop in the slow cooker on high for four to five hours.

Simply choose your toppings and you’re good to go.

EVERY DAY BATCH: Cooking healthy grub for the family can take up your whole evening.

Instead, use your slow cooker to keep veg levels up cheaply and easily.

Check the offers section of online supermarkets or hit the reduced yellow-sticker section at the end of the day to nab veg.

Pop in the hot-pot overnight with a few herbs and then blend to make a soup.

You can add meat if you want or keep it simple with lots of veggies.

The Morrisons’ Wonky Veg range is great for this as it’s cheaper and you would never know the difference.
