Drivers warned of £1k fines this Christmas over viral festive car makeovers

As Christmas is right around the corner, most of us will be getting excited with decorations.

Putting lights and baubles on a Christmas tree is a must, but others might want to jazz up their cars too.

Now a new study has revealed which car customisations have been liked/saved the most, but drivers must be careful too.

The experts at Confused.com claim that the most pinned festive car on TikTok could impact your insurance.

You would be wrong to think a wreath is only for your front door as some car drives often put them on their vehicles.

Christmas wreath comes in first place with 3,495 pins, proving this traditional decoration is popular even in 2021.

In the study, Christmas present boxes came second with 2,319 pins as people like to show it off on their roof of their cars.

Meanwhile third place are Christmas lights with 1,040 pins.

But you must be warned, the decoration on your car could pose a risk to other motorists on the road.

According to the Highway Code and the Road Traffic Act, a driver is not allowed to use a vehicle if their view is obstructed.

The fine is £100 on-the-spot but can rise to thousands and three points on your licence.

You could be expected to be pulled over if you're causing a distraction on the road.

While decorating your car this Christmas could get you likes on social media platforms, it could invalidate your car insurance.
