Billie Eilish to fans of her sexy British Vogue shoot: ‘I’m not this now’
Billie Eilish let her lacy bra peek out from beneath her colorful corset top in new selfies posted to her Instagram on Sunday.
The “Ocean Eyes” singer posed in Miaou’s “Campbell” corset ($225), topping her sexy look with a white lace button-up shirt and pearl jewelry from Vivienne Westwood, Lilith by Sita and Loren Stewart.
“yes, i know,” 19-year-old Eilish captioned the post.
While many fans flocked to the comments section to compliment the singer-songwriter’s look — “SHES AN ICON SHES A LEGEND AND SHE IS THE MOMENT NOW COME ON YALL,” one gushed — others lamented her sexy new style and called for the return of her signature baggy outfits.
“Guys can we please realize that Billie is finding herself and that she is happy with he way she is and that is all that should matter Billie is only 19 years old,” one person urged, adding, “she’s been [in] the public eye sense she was 15 and she is finding herself she don’t [owe] us anything.”
Another fan agreed, writing, “So you couldn’t deal with your insecurities so you were glad that Billie was wearing over-sized clothes right? And now she’s at her eases with her body, you want her to go back to the way she used to hide her. You know what? Just leave the fandom already #toxicfans. And let the real fans appreciate their artist.”
Eilish has spoken openly about body image issues she’s faced since the start of her career.
“I never want the world to know everything about me. I mean, that’s why I wear big baggy clothes. Nobody can have an opinion because they haven’t seen what’s underneath, you know?” she had said in a campaign video for Calvin Klein in 2019.
“Nobody can be like ‘oh she’s slim-thick, she’s not slim-thick, she got a flat ass, she got a fat ass.’ Nobody can say any of that because they don’t know.”
But over the years, Eilish has grown more comfortable with wearing more revealing clothing — and in May, she even posed in lingerie for British Vogue, to much online fanfare.
Every time Billie Eilish ditched her baggy outfits for tight clothes
She recently set the record straight on her viral boudoir-inspired shoot, telling Rolling Stone, “I saw a picture of me on the cover of Vogue [from] a couple of years ago with big, huge oversize clothes [next to] the picture of [the latest Vogue].”
Continued Eilish, “Then the caption was like, ‘That’s called growth.’ I understand where they’re coming from, but at the same time, I’m like, ‘No, that’s not OK. I’m not this now, and I didn’t need to grow from that.’”
