Una Healy sets record straight on David Haye 'throuple' for first time
Una Healy has opened up on her ‘throuple’ relationship with David Haye.
The Saturdays singer was at the centre of a LOT of speculation over a three-way relationship with athlete David and his partner Sian, with the trio sharing photos of them getting close on a sun-kissed holiday.
And while none of the three officially addressed the rumours, David appeared to confirm the relationship on Valentine’s Day as he paid tribute to the ‘Queens’ in his life.
Una herself had posted multiple photos with the pair, and this week alone shared a snap to her Instagram story of herself and David cozying up on a beach with the caption ‘it was me and him’ – but every trace of the pair then disappeared from her account.
Now the musician has finally set the record straight on what exactly was going on in that relationship – and says she felt ‘hoodwinked’ after initially dating just David.
In an upcoming episode of Joanne McNally and Vogue Williams’ podcast My Therapist Ghosted Me, the mum-of-two explains she met David on Raya but initially decided against a romantic relationship with him as she googled him and saw ‘he did exactly to his wife what my ex-husband did to me.’
Una and ex husband Ben Foden’s marriage broke down after he was unfaithful; they now co-parent their two children Aoife, 11, and eight-year-old Tadhg.
She and David became friends and began going on dates, even as Una was suspicious of the athlete saying he no longer believed in a ‘traditional relationship,’ and says while she knew he was seeing other women she didn’t feel cheated on as he was open about it.
‘I knew he wasn’t husband material, just a bit of fun and I was enjoying it,’ she explained – until he admitted he was reconnecting with his ex-girlfriend Sian and wanted the two women to meet, according to The Mail Online.
Una said she didn’t want to meet Sian but was concerned that if he and his ex went public, he could be accused of cheating on Sian with Una, and decided that if they were all photographed together as ‘a happy family’ people would know nobody was being hurt.
She insisted however that the situation was not a ‘throuple’ as she was never ‘romantic’ with Sian and barely even knew her, despite them going onseveral holidays together – one Christmas trip because Una’s ex husband had the children for the holidays.
Una recalled the flight, where David was in the middle and had one hand on each of the women’s legs, and joked to Una that they were both going through a ‘mid-life crisis.’
And as they posted photos on Instagram, Una began to notice the word ‘throuple,’ which she had to Google – and was suddenly being ‘trolled to death.’
Eventually Una released this wasn’t what she wanted, and accepted one woman ‘will never be enough’ for David – he took it well when she told him she was out and joked about her being ‘unsubscribed from the team.’
However she claimed things were over between them when he posted the Valentine’s Day tribute to the ‘Queens in my life.’
Una was ‘in bits’ over the belief she was in a three-way relationship, and agreed with Joanne she had been ‘hoodwinked into a throuple.’
She and David are still on good terms, and she ‘really enjoyed’ the relationship with him, describing him as ‘kind and honest’ – but she’s only looking for monogamy from now on.
After keeping quiet about the whole situation for months, Una admitted it was a relief to give out ‘the truth from the horse’s mouth.’
Plenty of people heard the word Throuple for the first time as Una, David and Sian made headlines, and Channel 4 is soon releasing a dating show exploring the world of polyamory.
Titled Finding the Ones, the programme will explore the growing popularity of polyamory.
Set to begin filming next month, an advertisement from the channel has said it is looking for participants for ‘a ground-breaking experiment’.
The ad is said to ask: ‘Are you single and ready for a new adventure? Are you willing to date more than one person at a time?’
After things with Una came to an end, David sparked speculation he and Sian had welcomed a new woman into their ‘team,’ as he embraced both Sian and influencer Mica Jova.
