Building on from last year’s collaborative après hike RX Slide 3.0, Japanese label BEAMS and Salomon reunite for Fall/Winter 2021 to launch an asymmetric monotone take on the latter’s XA PRO sneaker.
The duo — who have previously linked up for takes on the XA PRO 3D silhouette — have travelled back to 2001 in the Salomon archives, to experiment with the brand’s first-ever XA PRO model.
Unlike the current XA PRO, the original iteration has a voluminous, low-tech feel to it, thanks to its grey mesh upper accompanied only by minimal panelling and a stealthy black toe guard.
Designed for all activities in all types of weather, this season sees the XA PRO doused in an all-over GORE-TEX coating, while underfoot a cushioned EVA midsole is found. For added comfort too, the sneaker is completed with Salomon’s Quicklace system, which not only makes things easier on the move, but also offers a more adjustable fit.
The BEAMS x Salomon XA PRO GORE-TEX is available to buy now from the BEAMS webstore, retailing at ¥26,400 (approximately $240 USD).
