Taylor Swift has announced a surprise album, Folklore, will drop overnight, marking her eighth studio release and shocking fans with the idea 2020 may finally be saved.
That’s right, while you may have been perfecting your banana bread baking skills while in lockdown, old mate Taylor has been secretly working away in the studio on some fresh tunes for us.
Sharing a statement to Twitter, the singer wrote on Thursday: ‘Surprise 🤗 Tonight at midnight I’ll be releasing my 8th studio album, folklore; an entire brand new album of songs I’ve poured all of my whims, dreams, fears, and musings into.’
That’s midnight Eastern Time, which is 5am for those in the UK.
The singer’s latest studio album will feature collaborations with the likes of Bon Iver‘s Justin Vernon, The National‘s Aaron Dessner and Jack Antonoff (no surprises there).
Sharing a lengthy statement on social media, Taylor said the new record was a chance for her to pour out ‘all of my whims, dreams, fears’ after her summer was tipped on its head.
