Good Morning Britain hosts Susanna Reid and Piers Morgan marked their five-year TV anniversary on the show today. The pair recalled their first appearance together back in 2015, as Susanna shared her reaction to the news that the outspoken journalist would be joining her on the programme.

Opening the show together in front of a big sign reading “Five years of Piers and Susanna,” Piers remarked: “Who would have thought it?”

“Not me,” his co-host quickly interjected.

“It’s been a rocky road, to put it mildly,” the 55-year-old continued.

Going into more detail, Susanna added: “Five years ago the editor walked into my dressing room and said, ‘We have a proposal which is Piers Morgan might come and sit next to you on the programme.’

“I had to take my microphone off because I didn’t want anybody else to hear my reaction to that news,” she added.

“Or the profanity,” Piers joked.

The pair went on to show footage of their first day on the show together alongside their co-star Charlotte Hawkins.

They then poked fun at the change in their appearances.

“Trying to work out how much weight I’ve put on and hair I’ve lost,” the father-of-four remarked.

“There’s at least a stone difference for both of us,” added Susanna, who turns 50 next month, while introducing the clip.

“Congratulations to the whole @gmb team for getting through the last five years…” she joked online today after her co-host tweeted a picture of the pair on set today.

“Happy 5th Anniversary @susannareid100 – you lucky devil!” Piers wrote in view of his 7.6 million followers.
