Penny Lancaster is the third wife of ‘Maggie May’ crooner Rod Stewart, who she has been married to for 13 years. In recent years, she has featured on BBC’s ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ and ‘Famous and Fighting Crime’ on Channel 4 – a show where celebrities join the police. The experience on that latter show has led the 49-year-old former model to training to become a special constable with the City of London police force. Despite the positive outcome of her time on the show, unearthed accounts reveal the “terrifying” moment she was threatened and feared for her life.
Penny revealed the harrowing account to the ‘Loose Women’ panel and admitted that during her time on call she “never knew what was round the corner”.
While she wore a stab proof vest, she feared repercussions as she had no weapons to defend herself with.
She told the ITV hosts in 2018: “I didn’t have mace spray or a baton, so I had nothing to protect myself other than the call out, where I could call for backup.”
Penny went onto describe the moment she realised she was face-to-face with a drug addict who was ready to attack her.
She said: “There was a lady who I was chasing, a possible theft from a shop.
“After I chased after her, when she finally slowed down, I realised she was a drug addict. Literally frothing at the mouth, dark circles, shaking.
“As I approached her she threatened me with her needle.
“We had [been given] a warning that she’d been called previously and threatened the shopkeeper with her needle. So at that point I was terrified, yes, I was terrified.”
Penny claimed to feel that the experience taught her a lot about herself and has inspired her decision to train with City of London police in September.
She added: “You find out whether you’re a fighter, you freeze or fight.
“No one can be accused of being one or the other. I am a fighter, officers needed to [hold me back] and said ‘Not yet Penny’.”

While she is keen to do her bit for the community and help out society, Rod Stewart seems less than impressed.
Penny added: “My husband was terrified with the stories I was coming out with. I was coming home at four in the morning.”
She believed it was her privileged lifestyle that made her want to help others.
Penny added: “I’ve always liked the idea of giving back, doing charity, as much as you can give up your time, but it isn’t enough.
“Being a police volunteer I feel like I can reach out to those people and touch their lives.
“The police do obviously need more help, it’s only 12 weekends of training.”
