Entrepreneur, TV presenter and former pop star, Rochelle Humes has worked hard for years to get to the top of her game and now enjoys the fruits of her success with a beautiful home, a garage full of cars and several holidays a year.
But life wasn't always so rosy for the former Saturdays star. Speaking on the Showing Up podcast last week, Rochelle, 32, revealed that as a child she lived in a hostel and that she and her mum Roz had to battle to get out of there.
She said: "When my mum had me, we were living in a hostel and she felt like she won the lottery when she got a council flat and then she was able to buy the flat from the council. Those stepping stones are what made us. I always had the feeling of wanting more, striving for more."
Rochelle thinks it is this tough start that has been crucial in making her the success she is today. "The phrase 'no one knows hustle like a woman who's seen her mother struggle' really resonates with me," she says.
However, she worries that her own children Alaia-Mai, eight, Valentina, five, and Blake, one, whom she shares with former JLS star Marvin will not have the same drive or ambition because they have only ever known wealth and comfort.
"I really wonder if my kids will have the same hunger, drive and ambition as me," she says.
"I want my children to have those same values, that same hustle and dive and grind but let's face it, they've got a lovely home, a nice car, they go on amazing holidays, because I've worked hard to give them all of those things.
"But will they have that same fire in their bellies?"
She added with a laugh: "If they lived with me and Marvin until they were thirty I'm sure they'd be really happy."
