Peep Show star Robert Webb has branded Strictly Come Dancing a “weird show” and said he is unsure over whether it is a good experience or not. This week the comedian, 49, has been hard at work rehearsing the Quickstep to The Muppets theme tune with his professional dance partner Dianne Buswell, which he confessed has left him “almost weeping”.
It is brutal. It is an absolutely weird show
Addressing his Strictly experience so far, the star candidly opened up on his struggles when it comes to rehearsals.
Robert said: “A lot of time I am not wired up right as my brain refuses to put this leg over this leg.
“If we had longer to rehearse it would happen but we get four days and one performance.
“At the end of that performance you might get fired,” he added.
The actor went on to add that the popular BBC dance show had its good and “weird” sides, revealing that his favourite part is the live shows.
Robert confessed: “It is brutal. It is an absolutely weird show.
“The best part is the performance on a Saturday night, getting through it and it not being a disaster.”
However, the star added that he was proud of himself for coming so far.
“I have got through two dances and that is a big rush,” Robert admitted to The Mirror.
The star also shared that he has been struggling to get to grips with the complicated Quickstep routine he’s been preparing ahead of Saturday’s live show.
Robert confessed that at one point, he was “almost weeping” over the choreography, forcing his flame-haired partner to simplify the steps.
The star had previously branded the show “uncool” and a “sedate affair” compared to his previous dance experience.

“I mean Strictly is many things but it’s not,” he faltered, before continuing, “cool isn’t the first word that springs to my head, it’s joyful and it’s engaging, but the usual kind of cool, it isn’t,” he told Express.co.uk and other publications.
Earlier this evening, the star was given a glittery lunchbox from his dance partner on Strictly spin-off, It Takes Two.
During the show Dianne joked about how her dance partner brings a packed lunch with him every day to rehearsals, leading the comedian to wonder why his lunch habits were so interesting.
“You have a very interesting way of bringing your sandwiches to rehearsals,” host Janette Manrara began as Robert and Dianne sat opposite her on the It Takes Two sofa.
Shaking his head, Robert asked: “What is this? Can a man not just make himself a sandwich without being accused of being adorable?”
“No don’t worry, we’ve got you something even more adorable,” Janette commented, before Dianne pulled out a glittery lunchbox, complete with a photo of the pair of them.
“Oh my God,” she went on. “That is the cutest thing I’ve ever seen!”
Robert replied: “Are you sure you don’t want it?”, before Dianne insisted that he bring his packed lunches in it.
Strictly Come Dancing is on Saturday night at 6.45pm on BBC One.
