Philly Street To Be Named After Patti LaBelle

Philadelphia native Patti LaBelle will be honored with a street in the Center City district being renamed after the R&B legend.

The honor is a joint initiative by Welcome America Inc., the City of Philadelphia, City Council and the Office of City Representative.

The ceremonial renaming of Broad Street between Spruce and Locust Streets to Patti LaBelle Way will take place during the Wawa Welcome America festival on Tuesday on the southwest corner of Broad and Spruce Street.

The event will be hosted by Patty Jackson of iHeartRadio’s 105.3 WDAS-FM. LaBelle and city dignitaries will be present.

LaBelle, the Grammy award-winning singer, songwriter, actress and best-selling author has had a great 50-plus year career in entertainment and as an advocate for causes including adoption, diabetes, cancer and HIV/AIDS.
