The parents of tennis player Novak Djokovic are putting blame on tennis star Grigor Dimitrov for giving their son coronavirus.
Both of the athletes played in the Adria Tour events in Serbia and Croatia. The event was organized by Djokovic and just a few days ago, Dimitrov became the first player on the tour to test positive for coronavirus. There’s no evidence that Dimitrov is responsible for the spread of the virus, but Djokovic‘s parents put blame on him while defending their son.
“Why did it happen? Because that man probably came sick, who knows from where,” Srdjan Djokovic told RTL Croatia TV (via ESPN). “He didn’t test here. He tested somewhere else. … I think that’s not fair. He inflicted damage to both Croatia and to us as a family in Serbia. Nobody is feeling well because of this situation.”
Novak released an apology earlier this week, saying that he was wrong to set up the tour amid the pandemic.
Last month, Novak came under fire when he broke social distancing rules in Spain and he also made controversial comments back in April about the coronavirus vaccine.
