Nicki Minaj is no longer going to perform in Saudi Arabia.
The 36-year-old Queen rapper released a statement on Tuesday (July 9) explaining her decision to pull out of a scheduled headlining festival performance in the notoriously conservative country later this month.
“After careful reflection I have decided to no longer move forward with my scheduled concert at Jeddah World Fest. While I want nothing more than to bring my show to fans in Saudi Arabia, after better educating myself on the issues, I believe it is important for me to make clear my support for the rights of women, the LGBTQ community and freedom of expression,” she said.
Her decision also follows human rights groups and fans voicing their opposition to Nicki‘s scheduled performance in the country.
