In an Instagram post, the late-night talk show host reveals he tested positive on the first day of the holiday break for ‘The Tonight Show’ but has since been ‘back to 100%.’
AceShowbiz –Jimmy Fallon apparently spent his holiday in quarantine. On his first day back to work, the comedian revealed that he had tested positive for COVID-19 over the holiday break for “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon“.
Sharing the news on Instagram on Monday, January 3, Jimmy posted a picture of himself wearing a mask in an isolation room. “Hey guys, on the first day of our holiday break I tested positive for Covid,” he began his caption.
Thankfully, the 47-year-old was fully vaccinated and has received his booster shot. “I was vaccinated and boostered which made me lucky enough to only have mild symptoms,” he said. He went on thanking “the doctors and nurses who work so hard around the clock to get everyone vaxxed.”
“Thank you to NBC for taking the testing protocols so seriously and doing a great job,” he continued, before joking, “and also thanks for putting me in the ‘What ‘chu talkin’ about Willis?’ isolation room when they told me the news.”
Jimmy has since recovered in time for “The Tonight Show” Monday return. When Reese Witherspoon wrote in the comment section, “Hope you had a speedy recovery!” the funnyman replied, “Thank you!! Back to 100%!”
He offered a clearer update when another social media user asked whether the diagnosis would impact the show. “The positive test came back on 12/18. Back at work today and feeling 100%!” he assured.
“The Tonight Show” is taped in 30 Rockefeller Plaza, where NBC’s “Saturday Night Live” filming also takes place. During the last episode of 2021, the sketch show was taped without a studio audience due to the spike of Omicron variant cases. Tom Hanks and Tina Fey were brought in at the last minute to help host Paul Rudd carry on with the Christmas episode due to limited cast and crew.
