A Place in the Sun: Jasmine Harman comforts emotional buyer
A Place In The Sun presenter Jasmine Harman admitted that despite being a longstanding host on the property programme, she doesn’t get first choice on filming destinations. The mum-of-two, who first joined the show in 2004, has explained how things actually work behind the scenes.
The 45-year-old opened up about working on the show which has expanded to include various presenters including Jonnie Irwin, Laura Hamilton, Danni Menzies, Ben Hillman, Scarlette Douglas and Sara Damergi.
As a result, production requires larger crews to work in different locations at the same time.
The small-screen star confessed that the Channel 4 hosts sometimes only get a “week’s notice” ahead of their trip abroad.
Speaking in a new interview, Jasmine explained: “These days they have several crews working in different countries at any one time, as it takes a whole week to film just one episode.

“The locations work around the dates.”
She went on: “If we have a crew out in Spain, they work from one location to another and the presenter flies out to meet the crew.
“The presenters don’t really get much say in it and we only get about a week’s notice.”
Jasmine doesn’t get the first pick on where she will be shooting, whether it be in sunny Spain or somewhere more far-flung.
“Sadly no. It’s largely down to dates,” Jasmine continued to Suffolk Norfolk Life magazine.
“They get locked in very early on. We will put together a schedule of dates and then everyone gets to organise which they are available on.”
The property expert prefers to do “shorter breaks” nowadays, because she is a mum to son Albion and daughter Joy.
Jasmine added to the same publication: “I only do a week at a time because of my children.”

Meanwhile, away from the programme, the Channel 4 presenter recently addressed her “homeschooling hell”.
It comes as A Place In The Sun has been forced to stop production amid the current travel ban and national lockdown following the coronavirus pandemic.
Taking to Instagram, Jasmine admitted her devastation at not being able to film.
In view of her 65,000 followers, she penned: “Today was meant to be my first day back to filming A Place in the Sun in the Canary Islands.
“Gutted not to be there but of course we can’t travel right now.
“Obviously I’m at home instead of in homeschooling hell and will just have to get my dose of sunshine by watching @aplaceinthesunofficial every weekday on @channel4 at 3pm.”
She added: “My next episode is on Friday! #lockdown #sunshine #silverlining #travel #missmyjob.”
A Place In The Sun airs weekdays on Channel 4 at 3pm.
