After AJ and Curtis Pritchard's acting on Hollyoaks was slammed by former star Gerard McCarthy, Michael Greco has weighed in and slammed bosses of the show.

The former EastEnders star, who previously announced he's becoming a dad, took to Twitter to take a swipe at Hollyoaks for the "shocking" casting.

The 51 year old tweeted: "This is everything and more that is wrong with an industry I love.

"These people that suddenly come up with these casting ideas need to resign immediately. Shocking.

"I think people can watch this and learn so much from it. How 'not' to act. Shocking."

He also wrote: "If they don't win a BAFTA then I'm done."

The first-time dad-to-be later deleted his tweets from his page.

Michael starred on Eastenders as Beppe di Marco for four years, between 1998 and 2002.

Since then, he has gone on to become a poker player and has successfully won plenty of cash from live tournaments.

His comments come after former Hollyoaks star Gerard McCarthy, who played Kris Fisher on the show for four years, slammed the pair.

In response to a fan sharing a video of AJ, 26, and Curtis, 25, the actor said: "The next time a producer/casting director says the words 'but they have a big social media following'… Just point them in the direction of this absolute car crash.

"It's a simple idea: stop giving actors' jobs to models/reality tv contestants/pop stars from 1995/Crufts winners/anybody else who is not an actor. THEY WILL BE S***E!"

A fan also commented and said they were "cringe-worthy" while another viewer added: I don’t think I can watch with the volume up!! Is it as bad as it looks?! Stunt casting at its worst!!"

A third wrote: “How can two real life brothers not have any chemistry on screen?”

EastEnders actor Max Bowden, who plays Ben Mitchell, also liked the tweet.

In Hollyoaks the brothers play twins Marco and Jacob, with Marco – played by former Strictly Come Dancing star AJ – arriving into the village as a rival of Trish Minniver’s (played by Denise Welch).
