In view of his 713,900 followers, the former Football Focus host live-tweeted events from his home in the run-up to kick off at Wembley Stadium.

The star revealed that his wife was baffled over the pre-game commentary which started at 7.00pm, 45 minutes ahead of the game.

Dan wrote: “Another classic from Mrs W at 7:13…

In the voice of his wife, he wrote: “‘Dan, there are still 45 minutes to go before kick off.

“‘They’d said everything already. What more can they possibly talk about before it starts?'” he tweeted.

He added: “It could be a long night”, followed by laughing face emojis and football related hashtags.

Not long afterwards, the newsreader revealed that his wife and the mother of his three children was “concerned” for the sports presenters who were covering the match.

Dan explained that Sarah was worried about Ian Wright, Roy Keane, Graeme Souness and Mark Pougatch not being able to sit down and having to stand up for the entirety of the game.

Dan continued: “She’s also concerned that @markpougatch @IanWright0 Roy Keane & Graeme Souness aren’t sitting down.

“‘Do they have to stand up for the whole thing? Why aren’t there any stools?

“‘Don’t you think it seems a bit silly to be stood up all the time?'” Dan added to the tweet.

Clearly entertained by the goings-on at the Walker household, followers of the broadcaster took to the comments section, amused at the situation.

One social media user wrote: “Does she not know what you do?” followed by a laughing emoji face.

Another added that they sympathised with Dan’s wife: “My feelings exactly(Mrs W that is)”.

While another penned: “My question all the time – it’s analysed to the nth degree.”

Earlier in the day, the football presenter revealed his impatience for the game to start on the social media platform.

“This day feels so long … will 8pm please just hurry up!!!” he wrote in a tweet which was liked by nearly 2,000 of his fans.

Dan tied the knot with wife Sarah in 2001 after meeting while studying at the University of Sheffield.

The couple went on to have three children together, son Joe and daughters Susanna and Jessica.

Despite occasionally relaying his wife’s musings on social media, the star rarely gives his followers an insight into his home life.
