Strictly Come Dancing professional Anton Du Beke, 54, is often mistaken for Gavin and Stacey actor Rob Brydon, 55, but he realised just how much when a fan ran up to him and asked for his autograph. Discussing the moment on Steph’s Packed Lunch, the dancer said he signed off as himself but they asked him to “do it properly”. He revealed: “I had a lovely situation where I had to pretend…
“I was dancing with Lesley Garrett on Strictly Come Dancing and I went to see her in concert, and a lady grabbed me in the foyer and said, [excitedly] ‘Sign this, sign this! I love you, you’re so nice I love you.
“And I [wrote], ‘Lots of love Anton Du Beke’.”
But, the female thought he was Rob and asked him to “sign it properly”, thinking he was joking.
Going along with the mistaken identity, he added: “So, I had to change it to Rob Brydon.”
The pair have been likened to each other on several occasions in the past.
Anton previously said he was even turned down from Who Do You Think You Are? after producers mistook him for Rob.
“I have a real interest in history,” he told Talk TV.
“I was approached for Who Do You Think You Are? but they mistook me for Rob Brydon.
“When they found out I wasn’t him, they were less interested.”
He went on to say: “This is not the first time someone’s confused us and I doubt it’ll be the last. I do hope Who Do You Think You Are? come knocking on my door again.”
Rob played on his Anton resemblance during his appearance on Strictly last year.
Appearing via video call in the semi-final, the actor quipped: “I’m not Anton.”
After finishing his link, host Claudia Winkleman jokingly concluded: “Thank you, Anton.”

Elsewhere on Steph’s Packed Lunch this week, where Anton is a regular guest, he revealed the moment he fell for his wife Hannah Summer.
He told the host he fell for her “almost immediately” and followed her to the toilet the night they met to ask her out.
“I knew almost immediately that I loved her,” he admitted.
“She also loved me immediately, but I was holding a bottle of wine,” he laughed.
The dancer said Hannah caught his eye across a table at a party he was at and thought, “Wow, she is absolutely outrageous”.
He added he didn’t have the chance to speak to her at the loud venue, so decided to make his move when she went to the toilet.
The couple went on to marry in 2017 and now have three-year-old twins George and Henrietta together.
Anton is a guest on Saturday Morning with James Martin today, which airs weekly at 9.30am on ITV
Steph’s Packed Lunch airs weekdays from 12.30pm on Channel 4.
