TV star Laura Hamilton cannot forget a horrible comment that was made about her body when she was just 16-years-old. The A Place in The Sun presenter, now 39, admitted that she “can’t unhear it”.
Teenage Laura was out shopping in a short shirt when the remark was made.
The mum-of-two recalled being ridiculed about her legs.
The nasty words stuck in her mind and continued to knock her confidence years down the line.
She said the comment led to her pins becoming one of her body hang-ups.
The Channel 4 star shared the details in an interview with The Sun.
Laura, who enjoyed ballet dancing as a youngster, said she’d always had curves but her muscular legs felt “out of proportion”.
She would also struggle as she compared her appearance to friends.
“All the other girls were slender. My muscular legs felt out of proportion,” she told the publication.
“I’ve never been stick-thin. I’ve always had curves and cellulite,” she went on to add.
The property expert joined the cast of the Channel 4 show in 2012, shortly after appearing in reality show Dancing On Ice.
During her time on the series, Laura was partnered with professional skater Colin Ratushniak and was again subjected to a nasty comment about her legs.
Judge Jason Gardiner drew attention to her “tree-trunk legs”.
Not surprisingly, those words did “hurt”, the TV star later admitted.
After toning up following her stint on the programme, Laura, who shares two children with her husband Alex Goward, decided to lose some weight following the birth of her kids.
The presenter, who is mum to Rocco, seven, and Talhia, six, was 13st at the time.
She shed five stone on a keto plan which follows a high-fat and low-carb eating plan.
A positive side effect of the weight loss was that the cellulite on her legs disappeared.
Following her weight loss transformation, Laura finally felt more confident in her own skin.
She has since relaxed her regime, but continues to eat healthily and workout.
